Cathedral of the Resurrection, Evry, France , 1995 designed by Mario Botta Architetto
Building a cathedral is not just a bishop's see, it is above all an affirmation that the deepest of forces are still present. It is the will to create a place where the spirit is tightly woven into the urban fabric, a place which can help us face the everyday challenges and struggles of life. A cathedral today is a symbol of man's new attitude toward the environment in which he lives. -- architect's web site

Petra Winery, Suvereto , Italy, 2003 designed by Mario Botta Architetto
In its depth, the ground floor houses the central cylinder as well as the space set aside for the barriques in which the wine is aged, and a long tunnel pierces the mountain, ending in front of a rock wall: here, the heart of the hill takes on a central role, exquisitely evoking the ancestral values that are entwined with the land and are still part of the sheer mystery of winemaking. -- architect's web site
The stone cylinder of the central body is in fact surrounded by a green vegetation area creating changeable chromatic effects, depending on seasons. Basically, the construction appears as a "big flower" spreading along the hill in its whole, reshaping the own landscape.  -- official web site
