Green building evaluation systems around the world

Abu Dhabi's Pearl Rating System, launched in 2010 and now required for any project that applies for a planning or construction permit from the emirate's Urban Planning Council(UPC).
According to its creators, the Pearl standard is tailored to the emirate's climate and the culture. One example is the emphasis on water conservation, with almost 25 percent of available points geared toward the regionally important issues. -- SNAP, Aug/Sept. 2011, SWEETS.COM
There is the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment, or Griha, a green building evaluation system conceived by The Energy and Resources institute (Teri) and developed jointly with the Union ministry of new and renewable energy. See an article from Architectureal Record website.

There are many other green building standards around the world. Find out more in a directory of Green Building Councils from World Green Building Council(WGBC).

WGBC is calling for global guidelines on green building standards. Read an article from The Architectural Review 25 January 2011.
